BEACH 6’S RULES AND GUIDELINES
All players will conduct themselves in a polite and sportsmanlike manner. Individuals who do not abide by these criteria may face disciplinary action and risk being removed from the tournament.
All balls must be hit cleanly. No scooping or carrying the ball. Only off of a driven ball may a ball be double hit in one continuous motion.
Contact with the net in any way constitutes loss of point. Crossing under the net in any way that interferes with play also constitutes loss of point.
A served ball may not be blocked, spiked, or volleyed directly back over the net.
A served ball may be received by volleying the ball, provided it is not volleyed directly back over the net (the ball must be passed to a teammate first).
A block or partial block does not count as one of a team’s 3 hits.
The ball can hit any part of the body.
If a player is going to set into the opponent’s court, the player must contact the ball with 2 hands above the shoulders and it must be set directly forward or backward in relation to the player’s body. No dumping. This applies even if it is the team’s 3rd hit.
Both teams are responsible for recording matches won/lost and submitting the scores to the on-site Event Coordinator.
VENUE, PRIZING, CONDUCT
Venue
The tournament will take place on the beach courts at Immaculata High School in Kelowna. Courts will open for warm-up at 8:30am.
Prizing
Top teams will receive Urban Rec Okanagan Championship shirts.
Conduct and Safety
All players must follow Urban Rec Okanagan policies regarding sportsmanship, rough play, and interactions with Event Coordinators. Repeated unsafe or unsportsmanlike behaviour may result in warnings, benching, or removal from the tournament.
Roster Completion
100% of the people on the roster must indicate that they have read the online waiver (don't worry about the confirmed column- our insurance company is only concerned with the waiver column)
Any subs that may play for you in the tournament must also be added to your team roster and they must indicate that they have read the online waiver.
1. Click this link – https://okanagan.urbanrec.ca
2. Login & update profile if needed – please ensure both your email and contact phone number are up to date
3. Click on Team Roster
4. Click on “Add to Roster” at the bottom of the box
6. Type in the email address of a team member you wish to add to your roster, then hit submit
7. Repeat step 6 for each member of your team. You can only enter 1 e-mail at a time.
8. Once you have entered each member of your team roster they will appear on your roster – the system will automatically send an email to each email address that you enter. Each email address contains a specific and unique link that the team member needs to click on to confirm their participation and if necessary, create an Urban Rec Okanagan account and acknowledge the on-line waiver.
As team captain, you can check your team roster to see who on your team has not indicated that they have read the online waiver and follow up with those individuals accordingly. If this member already has an account with Urban Rec Okanagan (you can see their first and last name on your roster), these members simply need to log into their accounts to update their waivers.
