Urban Rec Okanagan 2-Pitch

COVID Safety Guidelines Published June 8, 2020 – subject to modification on the basis of future requirements from Urban Rec, BC Provincial and Municipal governing bodies, and facility licensing/permit approvals.

Teams and or players who do not adhere to the protocols put forth by the league risk being removed Illness


  • Do not come if:
    • You are ill, show any COVID symptoms (fever, chills, shortness of breath, fatigue, etc.) or are awaiting test results
      • If you have a positive test result, contact Public Health immediately so other user groups who were in close contact can be contacted
  • You have been around someone who is ill, has been out of the country in last 14 days, or presents COVID symptoms or is awaiting test results
  • You have been out of the country within the last 14 days
  • Only players on your roster may play
  • 12 players maximum – no spectators to ensure we are under 50 participants

Personal Protection/Hygiene

  • The use of a mask is recommended
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or into your elbow when coughing or sneezing
  • Use hand sanitizer before, between and upon completion of games
  • Maintain a distance of 2 meters from others at all times
  • Be mindful of common surfaces and limit touch points


  • Balls should be wiped with disinfectant before each game and before each pitch (by pitcher).
  • The use of personal fitted batting gloves at all times is recommended
  • The use of individual bats is recommended (otherwise clean with disinfectant between use)
  • It is recommended that each team use their own set of balls (2 provided by URO at start of season)
  • Please come prepared to play to limit access to washrooms/change rooms
  • Bring your own water bottle

Arrival/Departure at the Courts

  • Arrive no more than 15 minutes before scheduled game time
  • There will be absolutely no congregating at parks, facilities or parking areas before or after your game
  • Avoid touching gates, benches, and all other objects when possible
  • Avoid entering the diamond until it is apparent that the previous team occupants have vacated
  • Immediately upon the completion of the game, all members will leave the diamond area
  • Collected all garbage/recycling and place it in the appropriate bin after the game

Site Management

  • Follow directive of onsite volunteer
  • Arrive and wait in King’s Stadium “Next Game” Waiting Area
  • Mandatory Safety Questions before entering diamond
  • Pre-sanitize before game
  • Follow all onsite signage
  • Stay within your team area during the game
  • No use of dugouts. Teams line up outside area with proper distancing
  • Do not hangout around the beach court area outside of your game time
  • No base coaches

Before the Game

  • Sanitize prior to play
  • No warm up of any kind before games.
  • Guidelines & Rules shall be posted at
  • No player conferences or team huddles

Social Distancing During the Game

  • There will be a no contact, “no handshakes, high fiving, etc.”
  • Keep 2 meters away from other players (with the exception of brief exchanges - incidental contact)
  • During batting, players will need to line up along the fence outside of the diamond spread out accordingly
  • The on-deck batter needs to distance accordingly to space available
  • It is recommended that there be no base coaches.
  • The catcher will stand 2 meters behind the strike mat
